Technical Data
The manuals, IETMs and data packages that tell operators and maintainers how to use and repair the system.
What it is
Technical Data covers the recorded information needed to operate, maintain and support the system: operator and maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogues, engineering drawings and the data packages behind them — increasingly authored as modular, digital content.
Why your contract asks for it
When contracts cite S1000D, a DMRL, or "IETM delivery", they are pointing at this element. Technical publications are among the most labour-intensive IPS deliverables, and planning them late is one of the most common — and costly — supplier mistakes.
Typical activities and deliverables
- Technical publication planning (DMRL, business rules)
- Authoring data modules / manuals from maintenance task analysis output
- Illustrated Parts Data (IPD/IPC) production
- Verification and validation of publications against the physical system
