IPS-11 / 12 · Integrated Product Support
Facilities & Infrastructure
The workshops, storage, utilities and real estate the support solution needs — specified early enough to actually exist at fielding.
What it is
Facilities & Infrastructure covers the permanent and semi-permanent assets required to support the system: maintenance workshops, test facilities, storage (including environmentally controlled and explosive storage), utilities, and supporting infrastructure.
Why your contract asks for it
Facilities have the longest lead time of any support resource — construction and accreditation take years. If facility requirements are identified late, the system arrives before the building does. Contracts increasingly ask for facility requirement statements as part of the IPS data set.
Typical activities and deliverables
- Deriving facility requirements from maintenance and storage concepts
- Special requirements: environmental control, EMC, explosives, security
- Facility requirement documents and site surveys
