IPS-12 / 12 · Integrated Product Support
Computer Resources
The IT, software and data environment the support system itself runs on — from maintenance management systems to software support.
What it is
Computer Resources identifies the facilities, hardware, software, documentation and personnel needed to support the computer systems embedded in — and supporting — the product: mission software support, maintenance information systems, and the data environment that ties the IPS elements together.
Why your contract asks for it
Modern defense systems are software-defined; supporting the software often costs more than supporting the hardware. Customers expect a software support concept, and in-service data exchange (e.g. S5000F-style feedback) depends on the information systems planned here.
Typical activities and deliverables
- Software support analysis and support concept definition
- Maintenance/logistics information system requirements
- Data rights, licensing and long-term data access planning
- Cybersecurity considerations for support systems
